Evening Primrose Oil 1000mg
Main Ingredient
Evening Primrose
How It Works
The common evening-primrose, Oenothera biennis, is a flowering plant in the Onagraceae family native to eastern and central North America. Evening star, sundrop, weedy evening primrose, German rampion, hog weed, King’s cure-all, and fever-plant are some of the other common names. The plant produces evening primrose oil (EPO).
Flavonoids, mucilage, tannins, sugar, resin, and phytosterols can all be found in the leaves of evening primrose. The seeds include about 15% protein, 24% oil, and 43% cellulose, but the nutrient of primary significance is gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), a polyunsaturated fatty acid that is a precursor to prostaglandin synthesis, which is necessary for cell function.
