How It Works
Melatonin is a hormone made by the pineal gland in the brain. The pineal gland produces melatonin in response to darkness, but it stops making it when exposed to light. As a result, melatonin aids in the regulation of our circadian rhythm and the synchronisation of our sleep-wake cycle with the hours of the day and night, therefore, making the transition to sleep easier and encouraging consistent, high-quality sleep.
It also has anti-oxidant activity by binding to melatonin receptors stimulating the development of antioxidant enzymes such superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, glutathione reductase, and catalase.
How To Use
- Adults: Take 1 caplet daily at or before bedtime. Do not drive or use machinery for 5 hours after taking melatonin. Consult a healthcare practitioner for use beyond 1 month.
